giveaway...finally!

OK, here goes. I made lots of these last month for a boutique and have a few left so I thought it would be fun to give one away. These bands are interchangeable, so it's fun to mix and match.

I'm not gonna be all fancy and let you have up to 5 different entries for doing different things and then telling me about them in the comments. Just one entry per person. But I want your chances of winning to be relatively good, so just in case there are more than 50 people, I will pick two winners. Anyone can enter, but the contest will be over on Wednesday at midnight. Tell me what your favorite thing to make for dinner is. Because, darn it, I am struggling lately with what to make every night! It will be a random drawing, so don't worry about having the BEST recipe (though I'm incredibly excited to try some new things!).

Here is the watch:

Lots of blue. I typically don't make them with symmetrical beads but I tried it this time and kinda like it.

Good luck!

(In case I need to add another watch, I'm considering this one....)

*Also, I totally copied my aunt, who gave me my first watch last year. She was my inspiration!

ritz chicken...I usually cut the chicken breasts in half, roll them in vanilla yogurt, then roll them in crushed ritz crackers (I run them through a food processor) put them in a foil lined baking dish and cook them for about 30-40 minutes on 350. Easy and delish!

ONe of my favorite things to cook is stuffed rolls. So easy and really yummy. cook 1 1b of hamburger with a whole thing of sausage. add one can of cream of chicken soup (no water added) Cut a rolls in half and add meat. The meat will last for 2 meals. So i use half the first time and then freeze the rest for the next week.( I will tell you this in person so it makes more sense.)

Yeah so excited. Love the blue.
Hmm, my favorite thing to make for dinner? bean burritos. I am actually making them today.
recipe:
1 lb bag pinto beans
3-4 strips bacon(not cooked)
1 sm onion chopped
5 beef bullion cubes
1 tsp chili powder
shake of onion and garlic powder

place all ingredients in large pot with water about 3 inches above. Stir and bring to a boil. Then simmer all day about 5 hours or so. Add more water throughout the day and stir often. When cooked, you can remove any pieces of bacon or onions if you like and drain a bit of water if some is still left. Mash a bit and serve in warm tortillas with cheese. Sooo yummy.

Your chicken soup. Seriously. It's awesome. But since that doesn't really help you with meal ideas I'd also have to say Parmesan chicken fingers. The Bisquick recipe actually. 1 lb chicken, 2/3 cup Bisquick (sometimes I use flour), 1/2 c parmesan cheese, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp paprika, I egg, 3 Tbsp butter. Coat the chicken then drizzle with butter. 450 for 15 min.

It seems like my favorite thing to make for dinner is constantly changing. I like to go through all my recipe books and find a new meal to try each week. But here are some quick meal ideas that are always favs at my house.

Taco Salad are always a go-to meal for me. I love to use those Azteca salad shells that you can get in the refrigerated section at the grocery store. Here's a link so you know what I'm talking about.

I've been on a salad kick lately (must be the new year). I love Chicken Caesar Salad--or you can put it in a pita as well to spice things up a bit. Happy Cooking!

Love the Watch!! And love the topic, because I looked through all the comments and got some ideas. Here is what I am making tonight. It has been a once a week staple lately.- I don't use the recipe anymore, I just estimate everything!

Chicken and Bow Ties (and if I am really lazy, i leave outthe chicken and add broccoli or zuccini, it cuts the time in half!)
Pasta (8 oz.)
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons olive
chicken, cut into strips
1 tsp. dried basil
1/8 tsp. crushed red pepper
3/4 c. chicken broth
1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes (drained)
1/2 cup dry white wine (i use chicken broth)
1/2 c. whipping cream (i use rice milk or regular milk)
1/4 cup parmesan cheese.
saute garlic in oil-add chicken basil, red pepper until chicken is brown-add chicken broth (both parts) and tomatoes. Bring to boil, then reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered about 10 min, or until chicken is done. Stir in milk and cheese and simmer a little longer- a min. or so. Toss on pasta.
I love it becuase I can keep some noodles out plain for Brooke and still have a bit of a tasty pasta dish for the rest of us (she is so picky about sauces)

My favorite thing to make for dinner is reservations.

Wow I am glad you are doing this because I am always looking for new recipes. I don't know if I have a favorite but something we seem to make when it needs to be fast and especially to take to someone in the ward is Taco soup. And Ben can do it too. We just brown the meat with onions and then place it in a pot with a can of corn, can of kidney beans, can of tomatoes, package of dry ranch dressing, 1/4 to a 1/2 cup vinegar, some sugar, and a package or 1/4 cup of taco seasoning. Let it cook and serve it with some tortilla chips, grated cheese and some sour cream.

This isn't fair--because my favorite things to make dinner usually involve someone else cooking it.

So... here goes!
Pad thai noodles--but you will just have to spend some time with me to learn...

on to something easier,
teriyaki chicken
I buy a bag of chicken fingers...marinate them in teriyaki sauce(below) and grill. Serve with fresh corn and rolls or rice.

Sauce: 2 cups lemon lime soda, 1 cup soy sauce, 1/2 c brown sugar, 1 chopped garlic and 1 tsp. ginger (if you have some), 1/2 c vegetable oil

I love to bake fish--easy and healthy (?) I guess it depends how healthy a stick of butter is!:) super easy...add fish, butter and sprinkle with tony's bake for 20 min. I usually make this when i'm feeling especially lazy and just make asparagus or some rice-a-roni to go with it!:)

This is Morgan's mom.. when I saw on her blog that you are doing a give away I HAD to pop over here because I am in love with the watches she has of yours! Our favorite dinner is Taco Soup. It's easy (can be done in 15 minutes), nutritious, low cal and delicious!

10 cups chicken broth
1 can black beans
1 can red chili beans
1 can white beans
1 can blackeyed peas
1 can of chicken (I don't usually add the chicken)
1 can of diced tomatoes with chilies
1 small jar of salsa
1 small bag of frozen corn
1 packet of taco seasoning
1/4 Cup of sugar (that is actually an important ingredient.. it totally changes the taste)
A handful of fresh cilantro
Salt and pepper to taste

Mix all of the ingredients in a pot and heat until hot. We serve it with grated cheddar-jack cheese and chips.

Enjoy and I hope I win!

Chicken Tortilla Soup (its a crockpot and sooo easy and yummy)
2 breast of chicken (can go in even frozen)
2 cans rotell tomatoes
1 can corn
1 can green chilies
1 cup salsa
3 cans black beans
Put chicken in first and then open all the other cans and pour on top. Let cook on low for 8 hours. Just before going to eat pull out the chicken and shred it. It will just fall apart. Then put the chicken back in and stir. Serve with tortilla chips, mozerella cheese and sour cream. Enjoy! A favorite in our home!

Alright enough with the healthy stuff here is something from the Nester family coffers :-)... Easy, warm and goes great with hotdogs, or anything bbq-Esque :-)(fits in well at the pool where I work… or college dorms, but should be a big hit with kids on cold days)

2 (31 oz) Van De Kamps Baked Beans or... or 1 larger (whatever the size in the 60's is ;-))
1/2 cup Ketchup
2 Tablespoons Mustard
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 Package Hillshire farms Sausage

Mix, bake uncovered @ 350 for 2 hours

For thicker recipe Remove excess oil? (Dunno what you call that stuff on the top of the baked beans can...)

Also for a little fun on the side: Orange Julius:
1 can Frozen Orange Juice
1 Cup Sugar,
2 Cup Milk
Ice cubes to taste (normaly like 16-18)
2 tsp Vanilla Extract

Being the college student that I am, I'm a big fan of tacos. Cheap, easy, and doesn't take very much time to prepare.

And I love those watches! So cute! You should sell them on Etsy.

Dang girl, what talent in the jewelry making department! I'm totally impressed with the beautiful watches you made. Nice work!

Let's see... lately my favorite thing to make for dinner is chicken with some trader joe's sauce. If you like spicy things, we LOVE the General Tsao sauce. Just cook your chicken stir-fry style in your pan. When it's cooked all the way through, turn down the heat and add your sauce; cook on low for a few minutes. SO FAST and tasty! We also love TJ's Thai Curry sauces with that same stir-fry theme.

Serve with steamed veggies and rice. YUM!

I am totally with your mom on this one. By the time I get home from work, I am hoping that Mauricio made something for him to eat and then I get his left overs.... otherwise, to make something fast because I'm starving I will make some thick noodles, then get out some green peppers and onion and cut up and stir fry them along with a few pieces of beef. I usually will take the beef out of the freezer and just cut a piece off and then make that piece into little bites and put it in my stir fry. I put it over my noodles and add some alfredo sauce and it takes like 10 minutes tops. Almost anything with alfredo sauce and noodles will win with me. You can also grill a chicken and put over it or even some shrimp. Super easy and fast and you can change around the types of noodles too.

Becke said...

oh, the reason I would make this for me is because Mauricio doesn't like alfredo sauce, so it really is a personal choice. Jared will eat part of mine though, whether he hasn't already eaten or not.

Hi. ok so I have a new fav thing to make for dinner. 1st you put spinage and lemon juicea and garlic in you food proseser, it makes pesto. Then you cut up about 2 sweet potatos and lay them flat on a baking sheet and put a little olive oil on them and bake them at 350 for about 20 mins, while there baking you boil a box of bowtie pasta. then when the seeet potatos are done you mix the pasta, sweet potatos and pesto all together and yummo, it's so good and my three year old likes it!
sorry about the spelling, I suck

I have a killer enchilada recipe. One thing that I do each week is roast a whole 5 lb chicken in my oven. Super easy, and it provides me with chicken for an entire week (or a least a few days) as well as good chicken stock. One whole chicken. Remove gizzard and "gibblets" from inside chicken, wash, and sprinkle breast side with seasoning salt. Turn over and place in roasting pan w/ lid that is just large enough to hold chicken - I have a pyrex one that works well. Sprinkle bottom side (now face up) with seasoning salt and place in 325 degree oven for 1/2 hr for each pound of chicken (that would be 2.5 hours for a 5 lb chicken). At the end of this, you will have a super moist fall off the bone chicken that is sooo good.

I love to make Autumn Soup.

Cook 1 1/2 lbs ground beef with 1 1/2 cups chopped onions over medium heat. When the onions are translucent, drain fat. Add 4 1/2 cup water.

Add 1 1/2 cups of each cut up: carrots, celery, potatoes
Add 1 1/2 t salt
Add 1 t pepper
Add 1 t basil
Add 1 1/2 t kitchen bouquet

Simmer. When the vegetables are soft, add 3 cans diced tomatoes. Simmer until done (5 minutes or longer if you want).

Amazing watches...very cute! I just put up a post on my blog with some different ideas for meals....I have been trying out some new recipes and my family really liked the Ham and Potato Soup.
Cook the potatoes in 1/2 cup milk,
Mix 4 oz cream cheese with 3 cups milk, whisking together until smooth, add cream cheese mixture, 2tbsp butter, and potatoes and cook until hot. Add salt and pepper to taste, then you can add as toppings or into the soup either, ham, bacon, broccoli, sour cream, green pepper, 4 oz cheese.

You have some great ideas for dinner on this post....awesome!

Yay! I'm just in time for the drawing.

Um, dinner... it definitely wouldn't be what I made tonight :o)

Something yummy we recently tried was:
3-4 pork chops
pepper
olive oil
can of black beans
1 cup homemade salsa
snipped parsley (or cilantro if you can stand it. We can't)

rub chops with pepper. Cook in hot oil about 2 minutes on each side. Remove chops. In same skillet put the rest of the ingredients and combine. Add chops, bring to boiling, then cover and simmer 5-6 minutes. Can serve with sour cream if you like.

It was pretty good, but what I really loved were the leftover beans. I made nachos and dipped them in the salsa-beans. So delish!

Since Ashley's birthday is in March and she REALLY wants a watch, I thought I better enter your fun giveaway by including recipes that I actually made for dinner tonight! One of our fast, favorite, family dinners is:

Chicken Teriyaki

12 pieces of chicken (I use frozen chicken tenders or frozen boneless and skinless thigh fillets, both purchased from Costco)

21 oz. bottle of Veri Veri Teriyaki

Put the teriyaki sauce in the crock-pot.
Fill the empty teriyaki bottle with water and put the water in the crock-pot.
Blend the water and teriyaki sauce.
Add frozen chicken pieces.
(Can add fresh green peppers and fresh pineapple chunks too.)
Cook on low for 8 hours so chicken is very tender.
About 1/2 hour before serving, make your rice and cooked glazed carrots.

Glazed carrots

Fill up a sauce pan half way with water.
Add baby carrots.
Put the lid on and boil for 30 minutes.
Drain the water.
Add about 2 Tbls butter and 1/4 cup of brown sugar to the cooked carrots.
As the butter melts, it makes a caramel sauce which is delicious with the cooked carrots. Definitely, a family favorite!

Also, I add extra chicken pieces in the crock-pot, so the next night for dinner I can use the extra chicken to make chicken burritos or southwest chicken salad. (I'm all about making 2 meals at once.) For the southwest chicken salad, cut up romaine lettuce and put various toppings in small bowls so everyone can take what they want to add to their salad - teriyaki chicken, tomatoes, black beans, frozen corn, shredded cheese, olives, green onions, tortilla chips, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, etc. Ranch dressing is delicious on top. ENJOY 2 meals with half the work! ~ Cindy
